Monday 30th June – Day Four
Bvlgari. Louis Vutton, Prada, Dior … all the shopkeepers of the Pařížská street in Prague started closing their shops like we were extremists trying to break their shopwindows and take the luxury goods away.
Little did they know the chanting of the parade concerned inclusive sports (in Turkish), prayers for victory (in Mexican Spanish) and jumping over „vysoký jalovec“ (tall juniper) - which is the most favourite folk tune of a gifted Czech sprinter Štěpán Švarc.
Do I need to stress the atmosphere of the Monday parade was wild, but happy?
When the 200 hundred crowd marched around the statue of Jan Hus in the Old Town square, event the Master Jan looked down with agreement. Tomorrow is the first day of the real competition.
